Training Details 2 Class Dates: January 6th 8:30-11:30am February 10th 8:30-11:30am No scheduled breaks Must be present entire training to receive certification and manual. What is Youth Mental Health First Aid? Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an youth to young adult (age 4-25) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Mental Health First Aid uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to assess a mental health crisis, select interventions, and provide initial help, and connect young people to professional, peer, social, and self-help care. You will learn... Risk factors and warning signs of a variety of mental health challenges common among adolescents, including anxiety, depression, psychosis, ADHD, disruptive behavior disorders, and substance use disorder. Participants learn a core five-step action plan to support adolescents developing signs and symptoms of mental illness or in an emotional crisis. *Must be present all 6 hours of training to receive Certification* “Helping communities better understand mental illness and respond to mental health emergencies.”
