Johnson Park Center (JPC) is honored and happy to share the good news that the Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties pledged $5,000 and will host the web site to accept your donations to feed people in need. Additionally, Capraro Technologies, Inc. (CTI) offering to match up to $10,000 to ensure that food will be available to the less fortunate at the JPC Food Pantry in 2021. Also, for every donation you make, you will receive a $20.00 coupon good for purchases of $40.00 or more of food either in the restaurant or takeout at the Aqua Vino restaurant. Coupons are good until 1 March 1, 2021. The JPC Food Pantry served 1,374,615 million meals in 2020 versus 265,725 meals in 2019. To continue to meet the demand in 2021, we need your support to fill bags with food for families and single individuals struggling during the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19). Feeding America list that each third child in New York experiences Food Insecurity, which may harm their health. The Food Bank of Central New York reports that 63% of client households with seniors report making choices between paying for food and paying for medicine/medical care. 88% of clients agreed that receiving food at emergency,food agencies helped them get the food they could not receive any other way. Coding for Kids - P21S: Advanced Computer Scientists (Ages 10-12) @ Parkway Parade (By Term)

Develop and Create Advanced Computer Scientist marries software (coding) and hardware (mobile phones, micro:bit) and is a collaborative platform for students to be developers of apps and software. Deep dive into app creation for both iOs and Android, develop the maker in them with our extensive micro:bit curriculum, or touch base with Python in a way that students enjoy (Minecraft!) and understand (Math), for maximum application and retention. We have 10 different badges for students to collect and advance their coding abilities. This class will expose students to diverse fields of application for coding. We will focus on hands-on experience with agile development, and we will try using Scrum in the simulation. What will you learn? We will look at agile development, especially in software delivery. We will explain frequently used terms and what they truly mean. We will discuss ways in which to implement agile on teams, in companies, and with deliveries for clients. We will also explore how to scale agile for large companies and projects. The training includes a workshop where we try agile (Scrum) firsthand and better learn the principles of agile development. Although we will talk mostly about software development, the training doesn’t require any technical knowledge, and it is suitable for business people as well.
