SLEEPwith Big BusinessFacebook | TwitterAbout the Show:Doors 9:00pm / Show 10:00pmTickets on sale Friday 7/12 at 10amIt must be gratifying for SLEEP to hear the audience roar in approval when guitarist Matt Pike plays the opening notes of Dopesmoker, the live set version coming in around 40 minutes, slimmed down from the studio recording, which clocks in at a little over an hour and three sides.Years after the release of Volume One in 1991, Sleep’s Holy Mountain in 1992 and Dopesmoker in 2003, Matt Pike hard at work with HIGH ON FIRE and bassist / vocalist Al Cisneros with OM, heavy music needed one of its essential minerals back. In 2009, falling in on either side of NEUROSIS drummer Jason Roeder, SLEEP, like a wooly mammoth awoken from centuries of frozen slumber, once again walked the earth. You could almost hear the universe sigh in relief that SLEEP was back.2014 saw SLEEP release a single sided 12” with a new song, The Clarity, giving fans a glimpse of what would hopefully be more to come. And so, the wait began . . .All good things take time. In 2018 SLEEP fans will have a reason to break out their finest and get it lit because record stores all over the world will have the new SLEEP album.SLEEP has live shows slated for this year. Their studio work is tremendous. However, SLEEP in the live setting must be witnessed to be understood. That three people can create such a perfect, truly massive yet complex and dynamic sonic environment is what keeps their shows selling out. Truly, the band is not to be missed. May it never end.DISCLAIMER: Any attempts to describe the music of SLEEP render this writer almost completely useless. They are that good.PRESCRIPTION: Listen to Dopesmoker as often as possible and prepare for what is to come. - Henry Rollins

Artis Foundation invite your school to join them in a free workshop (for up to 30 children) in the beautiful exhibition space at the Guildhall Art Gallery. Investigate a Victorian painting, through the performing arts, led by an experienced Artis Specialist.
Bring art to life as the children step into the shoes of the artist, embarking on a journey of exploration in an imaginative, practical and fun way. This adventure will give children an awareness of the historical and geographical context of the gallery’s Victorian paintings, as well as immerse them in a story of discovery.

Dancing is My Voice provides forums where sexual violence survivors and those who love them can find healing through, connection to a supportive community, strength-building physical movements, creative public expression and resources Each year we host an annual Zumbathon® Charity Event during National Hispanic Heritage Month (mid September to mid October). This event attempts to gather enough people on the National Mall in Washington, DC to break the Guinness Book of World Records for largest Zumba® class while raising awareness of sexual violence. We want to put this event in the Guiness Book of World Records as the Largest Zumba class. Currently the record for the Largest Zumba class is in the Philippines with 13,350 people. Our beneficiary again this year is KitePride, an origanization that helps people in Tel Aviv who want to exit the sex trafficking industry, by teaching them marketable skills in a safe work environment. Please help someone get a new chance at life by purchasing a backpack or other bag, sponsoring a KitePride employee, and/or donating directly to Glowbalact, the parent organization. Every bag is made from repurposed parachutes or sails and showcases an exterior label that tells the impact of your purchase. Find out more about all of Dancing is My Voice's activies at on our website. Download the mobile app to tell your story and stay up to date with all our events. By registering for the event, you agree that you will participate at your own risk. Please consult your doctor before engaging in this or any other type of physical exercise.
