WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Through their grant-making, funders make a difference to people’s lives in countless ways. But just knowing you might be making some kind of difference isn’t enough: you need to know exactly what difference your grants are making, and you need to have robust data to inform your grantmaking decisions. Led by our expert measurement team, this workshop will take you through what to measure, which methodology to use, and how to judge the quality of grantees’ impact measurement.
With a group size of no more than 15, the workshop will be interactive and hands-on. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
The training will help you to:
Understand the terminology, concepts and definitions
Identify intended and unintended social impacts
Develop and use a theory of change
Prioritise outcomes for measurement
Choose the right level of evidence
Decide when to collect data and from whom, and how to sample
Support grantees with impact measurement
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The training is an introductory session and assumes no prior knowledge. It is aimed at funders who are either new to impact measurement or looking to improve their approach.
WHO DELIVERS THE TRAINING?
The training is delivered by our consultants who are experts in working with funders and charities of all shapes and sizes to develop robust and systematic methods for measuring the difference they make.
BACKGROUND READING
This training is based on our report NPC’s four pillar approach. For further background information, read our paper on Theory of change, and our survey of impact practice among funders, Funding impact.
Note we will be handing our materials on the day of the event too.

Third time's the charm, baby. ALL SEATS ARE IN THE SPLATTER ZONE! THE VENUE DOORS ONLY OPEN 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO SHOWTIME. IF YOU ARRIVE EARLIER, YOU WILL HAVE TO LINE UP AND WAIT OUTSIDE. The Mansfield's SELL-OUT SMASH of 2017 AND 2019 returns to the city that loved it SO BLOODY MUCH for the SECOND CONSECUTIVE SMASH YEAR! Zac Mansfield returns as director! Performances begin August 14th, 2020. Booking thru October 31st, 2020. Every FRIDAY and SATURDAY at 7:30PM! All tickets $40 + s/c. This hilarious show takes all the elements of the cult classic films The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness and combines them into one of the craziest theatrical experiences of all time. Five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It's all up to Ash (a housewares employee turned demon-killing hero) and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Blood flies. Limbs are dismembered. Demons tell bad jokes ... and all to music. The songs in the show are completely off the wall. Titles like "All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons" and "What the F**k Was That?" will have audiences rolling in their seats and screaming for more and more blood. This show has fun with the horror genre and, in doing so, appeals to a wide audience. It's the only show with a "Splatter Zone"a section of the audience that gets covered in fake blood. And with this combination of blood, jokes, cheesy effects and awesome musical numbers, Evil Dead The Musical is unlike any show you've ever seen. While the Evil Dead films are the definition of cult movies, as a stage show, Evil Dead: The Musical has become a cult sensation of its own. The show played off-Broadway in New York, has broken records in Toronto, has won awards in Korea and has had more than 200 productions mounted across the globe! Recommended for ages 16+ (strong language, adult humour). Viewer discretion is advised. *While the fake blood will wash off skin, we make no guarantee and take no responsibility that it will wash out of all fabrics. Wear a white shirt (some will be for sale at the show) to have some fun and create a lasting memory! Complimentary coat check will be provided for those in the Splatter Zones.* mansfieldscabaret.com ALL SALES FINAL. NO EXCHANGES OR REFUNDS.
Last Sunday had 121 sellers which was good considering the weather forecast but disappointing seeing as it didn’t rain at all and we had 182 the previous 2 weeks. It was actually a good day with the Car Show running at the same time. Weather again good this Sunday 23rd August and hoping for another big crowd. The following Sunday (30th August) we have the Knuckle Busters at the Barn which is a Hot Rod Show so another big crowd expected. We are also open on the Bank Holiday Monday so Sunday 30th August and Monday 31st August. Again, a big thanks to the majority who are following the distancing and one-way routes and abiding by our strict no harassment policy which is why Stonham Barns Car Boot is always such a friendly place to sell and buy at. Back again this Sunday 23rd August & every Sunday until further notice. Each week I’m enlarging the sales areas as we are using three different fields at the moment so I apologise for the extra walk for buyers but, the Car Boot is literally right next to where you park once everyone is in. You can park near the Owl Sanctuary or in the Coach Park (disabled) if you mention this to one of the attendants.
There are only a few Sunday Car Boots on at the moment so, make sure you are organised and bring everything that you need to feel comfortable at the Car Boot. We do have food and drinks (hot and cold) and the toilets are open with a strict one in one out system. These are cleaned constantly throughout the opening times. You can turn up on the day and sell. If you can’t get to the food van/toilet I am coming round to take pitch fees so ask me or ask your neighbour to look after your pitch. With the size of the car boot growing it does mean a longer walk to the toilet though.
Thanks to everyone last week who followed all that I asked. For your safety I suggest that sellers bring gloves, sanitiser & possibly masks if they choose to. These are for your own peace of mind and obviously because you are handling cash. You still need to decide whether you allow buyers to pick up items or not and please clean items if you allow them to. These are suggestions only – you need to decide how you can sell and feel comfortable and safe.
Each week, I’m amending a few things so it’s easier to get in.
Sellers will be allowed to enter the field from 6am onwards. NO ONE WILL BE LET IN UNTIL 6 SO DON’T ARRIVE BEFORE THEN AS YOU CAUSE TRAFFIC JAMS. Buyers will not be allowed in until gone 6.30am but – please allow me to get everyone into position so you don’t hinder this, thanks and please don’t stand behind cars whilst they unload. No one is going to jump in and buy before you as it just isn’t that kind of car boot.
There will be a one-way viewing system which needs to be followed. I will place Way in and No Entry signs down each aisle. BUYERS – PLEASE FOLLOW THESE as they are very important for everyone’s enjoyment & safety.
We will have sanitising solution available to purchase if necessary but, ideally all will bring some. Go to the food van if you need any sanitiser.
Again, I ask the buyers to be patient and to make sure they are aware of the opening times and to follow the one-way system. If you see anyone going the wrong way – please politely point this out to anyone oblivious to the numerous signs.
I will be out attempting to guide everyone into position and again I ask for patience as I will decide where everyone goes as the positioning of everyone will be vital and everyone needs to be positioned as I suggest.
The last few weeks were a great success and I can only thank everyone that acted intelligently and sensibly.
At the end of the day though, we are an extremely friendly car boot with a lot of regular sellers. You’ll find that you can speak to and ask anyone selling at the car boot and they’ll point you in the direction of myself or the various people working at the car boot. I will be wearing a high viz jacket this Sunday so the person covered with small beetles will be me. Please feel free to ask anything. Otherwise ask at the food van.
Stonham Car Boot has always had a great atmosphere where the public (sellers and buyers) have made the whole occasion really enjoyable. We don't have or allow anyone to harass sellers and it has never been an issue. Which is why everything works so well. But, because of restrictions we will have to follow set guidelines for sellers and buyers and everyone needs to read these and follow carefully.
We will have Covered stalls in position but, these will need to be pre-booked in advance – Text 07817539168 with your number plate and vehicle size to reserve one and specify which Sunday you would like to attend. If you cannot make a date please text beforehand to let me know. Any Sunday can be reserved in advance. These are covered stalls (outside) with an overhead canopy and table to place items on. These are £10 for any vehicle size. If the forecast is heavy winds the overhead canopies may not be placed on the stalls for fear of the stall being blown into your car’s bodywork.
Anyone wishing to attend on the day will be charged £5 cars, £7.50 small vans, £10 Large Vans, car with trailer £7.50, Covered stalls £10. Buying is free.
Food & drinks will be available as usual at the Car Boot. There will be only 2/3 people in the food van and they will also have gloves & masks. All Food and drinks will follow Covid 19 government guidelines.
We are outdoors only but offer covered stalls. We try to open every week irrespective of the weather as we still get buyers and sellers.

The Bangkok Photo School Beginner's Package is a series of three, weekly evening classes and a field-trip, carefully compiled to give photographers the skills necessary to create engaging, well-exposed and beautifully-composed photographs.
"Our aim is to educate, encourage and inspire."
Starting with the basics, we cover all the essential technical aspects of the camera. Our aim is to demystify your camera gear, allowing you to move away from the Auto setting and to take full control of the camera's various settings.
Weekly Evening Classes
Week One "The Basics" - Thursday, January 30th @ 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Including lessons on Apertures, Shutter Speeds, ISO, Focussing Control and a guided tour of your camera equipment, introducing you to all the important camera controls.
Week Two "Creative Control" - Thursday, February 6th @ 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
How to regain control of the camera, exposure control, compositional guides and an introduction to the art of visual storytelling.
Field-Trip - Sunday, February 9th @ 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
An opportunity to put the things we've learned in the classroom into practice with a tutor-led photo shoot in a photogenic part of Bangkok with guided exercises and storytelling advice.
Week Three "The Creative Photographer" - Thursday, February 13th @ 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Putting all your new skills together with advice on lens choice, focal lengths, creative composition, a review and professional critique of your field-trip images with suggestions for future projects.
Learn by example
During classes, we look at real-world examples of successful images from past masters, including Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sebastião Salgado, Elliot Erwitt, Martin Parr, James Nachtwey, Don McCullin and many more. Using these examples, we deconstruct images, learning how successful photographers have created their work.
Classes combine technical and practical exercises and students are encouraged to use their cameras during the class and in weekly homework assignments.
Professional Tutors
Our Beginner's Photography package is taught by JJ Michael, who has great experience in helping students to make the most of their photographic opportunities. JJ has been bringing his considerable knowledge and enthusiasm to classes at the Bangkok Photo School since 2010.
FAQs
What camera do I need?
Any type of camera that allows you to manually set the aperture and shutter speed will work. Nowadays even small compact cameras have some manual settings so anything from a compact to a professional DSLR is fine. If you are intending to buy new camera gear, we recommend that you come to the first class to get our advice on what gear might be appropriate for you. Please keep in mind that you will need a camera for the second and third classes to get the most out of the course.
Is there an age limit for students?
Not really, we usually accept any students from 15 years of age upwards.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There's plenty of parking at The British Club. If you are coming by public transport please leave plenty of time to navigate through the Bangkok traffic.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes, please bring your ticket with you, either printed or on a mobile device.
What about refreshments?
We take a break half-way through the class for dinner, when students can order from the wide selection of dishes available on the British Club menu. There's also tea, coffee and drinks. Just pay the waiter/waitress before you leave.
What is the refund policy?
If you are unable to attend the first class then we ask for 14 days notice and we'll refund the cost of your registration. If you have to cancel your place within 14 days then we will still give a full refund, providing we are able to take a replacement registration before the class begins. No refunds are payable after the first class has commenced.
Where can I find more information about your classes and workshops?
You can visit the Bangkok Photo School web site and you're welcome to e-mail us at enquiries@bangkokphotoschool.com
