It's My Park Day - Tree Stewardship Project - SI - H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths

It's My Park Day Gardening/Beautification/Tree Stewardship Project - H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths, in partnership with The Office of NYC Council Member Debi Rose, SI Parks, Trees NY and Partnership for Parks,  held a MLK Day of service/tree stewardship event on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 10am-12pm. We weeded and cleaned the tree beds along Richmond Terrace in St. George. The project has continued since then. If you are interested please register and we will send you additional details! We’ll be meeting at Hamilton Avenue and Richmond Terrace (one block from the St. George Ferry Terminal, next to the 120th Precinct) on the following dates, from 10-11:30am and then from 11:30am-1pm at the H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths Skyline Community Garden (1 Clyde Place):  January 20, 2019 February 17, 2019 March 24, 2019 April 14, 2019 May 19, 2019 June 23, 2019 July 21, 2019 August 18, 2019 September 22, 2019 October 20, 2019 November 17, 2019 December 15, 2019   Tools and gloves will be provided. Capturing Classical Edinburgh at the City Art Centre - 2.5 hour sketch tour

Capturing Classical Edinburgh with the Edinburgh Sketcher.  To tie in with the City Art Centre exhibition 'Reflections on Classical Edinburgh' join local artist Edinburgh Sketcher (Mark Kirkham) to capture some of the city's beautiful architecture in ink and watercolour. In this walking tour of streets around the City Art Centre you will capture detail, scale and perspective with gentle instruction and guidance from Mark. You will make the most delightful drawings in this beautiful location in the heart of Edinburgh with view across to the Scott Monument and Princes Street – a very special opportunity. Once you’ve filled your pages with beautiful ink drawings, we’ll end our tour with tea or coffee and time to add watercolour to your sketches and compare our doodles. No previous experience is required for this relaxed and informal drawing tour and all materials are provided.

Intensive Level 3 Diploma in Body Massage (ITEC)

We offer the opportunity to condense a body massage course which usually takes 4 months into only 3 weeks. As the name suggests it is intensive and requires commitment on your behalf. The Intensive Level 3 Certificate in Body Massage (ITEC) course provides training for giving safe massage treatments that are both commercially acceptable and performed in accordance with legislation and establishment rules. Upon successful completion of  the course you will be a fully qualified masseur who can gain insurance and set up your own business or gain employment within the industry. Content Whilst enrolled upon the course you will study three distinct units: Body massage Anatomy and physiology Business Practice for Complementary Therapies You will study anatomy and physiology which covers the following: Body systems: skeletal, muscular, circulatory and lymphatic, neurological, endocrine, respiratory, digestive, urinary and reproductive Histology Anatomical planes and positions Skin, hair and nails Common pathologies affecting each body system Applying the foundation of knowledge of anatomy and physiology, you will learn how to give a full body massage. During the course you will cover the following: Full body massage using a variety of techniques The treatment environment and the working area Therapist appearance and behaviour Client care and preparation Legislation and working practices Client consultations including contraindications and restrictions Reflective practice The history and philosophy of massage Good practice and legal obligations Principles and practice for complementary therapies   Whilst studying you will both give and receive massages so please be prepared; this is a practical, hands-on course.
