The Canberra class amphibiousassaultship, HMAS Adelaide (III), will be visiting her namesake city of Adelaide, South Australia.
While in Adelaide the ship's company will hold an Open Day on Sunday, 14 April 2019 with the public welcome to come aboard and tour one of the largest ships to serve in the Royal Australian Navy fleet.
Mobility for Ship Access
Wheelchairs and strollers are not compatible with access to the ship and visitors must be able to walk up and down six (6) flights of stairs unassisted.
Wheelchair access is not available on the ship.
Prams and Children
It is recommended that children under the age of five not be brought aboard the ship as the tour includes ascending and descending stairs and ladder bays. Visitors are permitted to assist their children up ladder bays. Those who cannot climb up ladder bays will not be able to enter the ship.
Prams are not permitted aboard the ship, however, space will be available for the parking of prams on the wharf.
Please do not leave any valuable items with parked prams.
Transport and Parking
There will be extremely limited parking nearby so the use public transport is strongly recommended. Outer Harbor Railway Station is only 100 metres from the entrance of the Passenger Terminal. Alternatively, take Bus 653 to Stop 66 Oliver Rogers Drive - South East side.
Footwear and Clothing
All visitors are required to wear enclosed shoes such as flat shoes or comfortable walking shoes. High heels are not permitted as there are trip hazards aboard the ship. The tour of HMAS Adelaide includes climbing and descending stairs and ladders and visitors should dress accordingly.
Set Entry Times
The tickets will allow for entry over specified 30 minute entry blocks. The first tour will begin at 10:00am with last tour of the day happening at 3:30pm. This is for entry only, there is no specified exit time. However, visitors will be required to depart the venue by no later than 4:00pm.

All tickets must either be printed out or displayed as an e-ticket using the free Eventbrite iOS/Android App for mobile devices.For security reasons, tickets must display the name of at least one member of the group visiting which can be presented with matching photo identification to staff at the gate. Visitors (particularly children) without photo identification must be accompanied by the person who has their name on the tickets with their matching photo identification who can vouch for their identity. Every person attending, regardless of age, must have a ticket.If a number of tickets are reserved by the same person for group bookings, that person must be present with the entire group to facilitate their access to the ship. Photo identification to match the name on the tickets will be required, otherwise the group may be turned away.
The scalping of tickets is an offence. If you are unable to attend the open day please cancel your tickets. People found to be soliciting the sale of free open day tickets will have their tickets cancelled without notice. People who purchase free tickets may be refused entry as the ticketholder name will not match their photo identification.
There is no waitlist for this open day.
100% bag checks will be conducted in accordance with standard set for any public event. This is to ensure that no prohibited items are brought into the open day venue. Prohibited items include weapons, glass, open water bottles and alcohol. Water and other refreshments will be available within the Port area during the Open Day.
Food and Beverages
A coffee van will be available at the open day with non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Visitors are advised to hydrate before stepping aboard. Please do not consume any food on the ship.

Photography is permitted aboard ships. All camera equipment must be carried by hand and not carried in a bag. Members of HMAS Adelaide’s crew may ask you to refrain from taking photographs in certain areas.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Yes. All ticket holders are to present photo identification upon entry to the open day. Refer to the Tickets section above for additional information for group bookings.
Is there an age limit to enter the event?
There is no age limit to this event.
It is recommended that accompanied children 5 years and older attend the open day, however, this age limit is not mandatory.
Tours of the ship will take approximately 45-60 minutes and will involve walking up and down up to six (6) flight of stairs (equivalent to six (6) stories).
I haven't received my ticket order email. What can I do?
All ticket orders are sent to the email address used when you created your Eventbrite account. If you can not find an email in your inbox, please check your junk/spam folder in case your email security settings has filtered the ticket email to that location. If you still can not find the ticket order email, please contact [email protected] with the details of the name and email address used to order the tickets and we will endeavour to locate your ticket order and resend the email.
Is my ticket transferrable?
For security reasons, tickets can not be used by another person if the ticketholder is unable to attend as the name on the ticket must match with the ticketholder's photo identification. However, prior to attending the event, tickets may be transferred to another ticketholder. Please use the 'Contact the organiser' email link shown in your ticket email to advise the first name, surname and email of the new ticketholder. Refer to the Tickets section above for additional ticket information.
How do I cancel my tickets if I am unable to attend?
Due to the high level of public interest in obtaining tickets to attend the open day, if you and your guests are unable to attend the open day please log into your Eventbrite account (the account you created to order the tickets) and cancel your ticket order. This will make your tickets available to someone else.
