Expression of Art Award – Sunday Jazz Concerts
TheConservatorium hotel has established a strong collaboration with the Conservatorium van Amsterdam; Amsterdam's University of the Arts, since the day of its opening in 2011. This award series emphasises the heritage and history of the building, which has been the house of the former Sweelinck Conservatory of Music from 1983 to 2008. This award will give four bands the opportunity to perform within the hotel and compete for the scholarship of €5000,- offered by the Conservatorium hotel. Like last year the Public Award of €750,- will be offered by Sennheiser, long term partner of the Conservatorium hotel. Join us for the Sunday Jazz Concert every last Sunday of the month from January until May and find out who will be the winner of the award during the Grand Finale in May.
The third concert of the series will be by Forest Light on 31 March. Forest Light is led by singer and songwriter Marta Arpini. The quintet works on Marta’s original material, giving life to a special microcosm of deep enchantment. With a personal and unique research on sound and storytelling, Forest Light melts evocative atmosphere and powerful interplay. After one year of work, the group is willing to go one step further, and the opportunity to perform and record in such a special occasion would be the best way to help its growth and development.
