FREE bus travel to and from the Anzac Day Dawn Service with TransportCanberra!
Transport Canberra, together with the Australian War Memorial, will be providing FREE bus travel to and from the Dawn Service on Thursday, 25 April 2019.
Pre-registering provides you with peace of mind knowing that your bus travel to the Dawn Service is arranged. It also allows Transport Canberra to effectively manage customer demand for bus services and ensures that bus resources are used efficiently.
To register, choose a location you wish to board the bus from and select how many passengers are in your party. On the day, passengers will need to present their ticket(s) in either electronic or paper form to Transport Canberra staff.
By Registering to Ride you are selecting to ride with Transport Canberra buses, which includes seated and standing positions on the bus. Please note that passengers are not guaranteed a seat for travel. Bus services to the Dawn Service are limited and we strongly encourage booking early.
As Anzac Day is a public holiday, Transport Canberra will be operating on a public holiday timetable for regular services throughout the day. Free bus travel will be provided to those wearing or displaying War Service medals on any Transport Canberra bus service throughout the whole day. Medal holders are still required to Register to Ride to the Anzac Day ceremonies, to assist Transport Canberra in managing customer demand and resources.
NOTE: Buses will only pick up from advertised pick up points/times, and will not be stopping at other bus stops en route. Return charters will depart from original drop off points 20 minutes after the Dawn Service concludes. Transport Canberra staff will be onsite to assist.

Why do I need to register for a free service?
The Anzac Day Dawn Service and National Ceremony are well attended commemorative ceremonies where parking and road closures in and around the Australian War Memorial is restricted on the day. Transport Canberra, together with the Australian War Memorial, provides free bus services to assist in reducing these pressures. Transport Canberra has implemented a registration process to assist in gauging expected attendance and assist passengers in preparing for their travels.
