SciPub Evolution: A series of successful mistakes

at

Rob Roy Hotel

106 Halifax Street, Adelaide, SA 5000

Hello and Happy New Year!

The team at SciPub are gearing up for our first event for 2018 and are please to invite you to join us for SciPub Evolution: A series of successful mistakes. Is evolution random? Does evolution still happen? What is natural selection? Did we really descend from monkeys? Evolution can explain changes in gene distribution and fossil records over time. All life on Earth shares a common ancestor, evolution explains how we are different and how we are all the same. We have a fantastic trio of panelists lined up to discuss how evolution has shaped life on Earth.
Please join us for #SciPubEvolution on Friday 9th February at the Rob Roy Hotel (106 Halifax Street in the city). Please note the date this month, which is a week behind our typical schedule. This event kicks off at 6:00 pm and will finish by approx. 7:30 pm (doors will be open from 5:30 pm for those who wish to arrive early for seat).
The principal goal of SciPub is to make science engaging and accessible to the public. Each panel consists of three experts who deliver short, 10-15 minute presentations on their area of expertise and then discuss questions from the audience via a moderator. Panellists are selected primarily on their ability to effectively communicate science in an engaging and non-technical manner. SciPub is held in a pub so that scientists, aspiring scientists, and non-scientists can learn, discuss and think critically about hot topics in science.
We are pleased to announce our panellists for #SciPubEvolution are:
Prof Mike Lee – Flinders University and SA Museum
Prof Stephen Donnellan – University of Adelaide and SA Museum
Dr Laura Weyrich – University of Adelaide
Please take note. We endeavour to make your SciPub experience an enjoyable one. Although Eventbrite issues automated tickets, we do not check or collect tickets at the venue. The RSVP facility makes it easier for us to estimate numbers so that we can accommodate accordingly. RSVPing does not guarantee a seat. Doors are open from 5:30pm and due to the popularity of some past events, we would advise patrons to arrive early to avoid any disappointment. Thank you for your support. We hope to see you there!
