Join us on the weekend of December 14-16 for a one hour round trip to the "North Pole" with Santa Claus and all of his friends! All aboard for this fun family tradition!
Please be sure to read our Frequently Asked Questions
All Santa Express rides are round-trip and are 1 hour in length, and will be traveling just past the fish hatchery along Axemann Rd in Pleasant Gap.
All trains board at and depart from the Train Station in Bellefonte, located at 320 W. High Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823. Please refer to the map on our Contact Us page.
All passenger cars have a small RV-style restroom aboard
Children 2 years old and under ride for free if they will be sitting on someone's lap. Lap tickets may be obtained at the station or from one of our volunteers on the day of the ride.
Boarding begins approximately 20 minutes prior to departure. Please plan to arrive early to allow time to find parking and walk to the platform. Trains leave on time!
Dry food and snacks, and non-sticky beverages are allowed on the train. Alcoholic beverages are strictly forbidden!
Refunds are available up to 7 days before the weekend of the rides. After that, refunds will only be issued in the unlikely event that a ride is cancelled.
CABOOSE RENTALS - PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING: The caboose is available to rent for one group per trip for $300. The caboose seats 12-16 adults, or an equivalent combination of adults and small children. Approximately 4 of those seats are in the cupola and can only be accessed via ladder, so are better suited to kids and younger adults. The rest is bench seating. Santa Claus and friends will NOT be visiting passengers riding in the caboose! However, Santa will be available for pictures, at the station, following the rides. It is unsafe for Santa and friends to cross over to the caboose while the train is in motion. We will be serving cookies and hot chocolate, but you are welcome to bring food and drink of your own. There is a restroom aboard the caboose, but it is even smaller than the ones found in the rest of the cars - we highly recommend using the restroom before boarding.
Pictures of the caboose interior can be found here, to give you a better idea of the caboose seating arrangements:
Passengers with mobility issues should notify BHRS volunteers so they may be moved to the front of the line and be efficiently and comfortably boarded.
Please note: BHRS may reserve a few tickets from the initial offering to allow us to properly process all ticket orders and ensure the train is not oversold. Due to the nature of the seating on the train and the desire to seat parties together, not every possible seat may be taken. We try to make as many tickets available as possible, while trying to ensure that everyone can be seated comfortably.
Due to the tremendous demand for tickets and the speed at which the rides sell out, we may adjust the number of seats available after the initial sales rush. To be as fair as possible, we will release any available seats at 8:00 am, November 30th; however, we cannot guarantee that any seats will be available on that date.
Returns will be permitted through November 30th on Eventbrite. Note: If you return tickets, you will receive a refund, but it is unlikely that you will be able to exchange for another date or time. Please plan your purchases carefully.
Returned tickets will be placed back in stock immediately. If you are unable to purchase tickets on November 1st, we suggest you check back regularly in case tickets become available due to returns. Also check back on November 30th, as noted above.
Finally, please be aware that BHRS does not own the train cars used for the Santa Express. We can only use these cars for one weekend because they are needed for other events. We are an all-volunteer organization and we try our best to accommodate as many people as possible for the Santa Express rides. We know demand is high and it is frustrating to those who don't get tickets. We do our best to make the most rides available that we can. Please be considerate of this if you contact one of our volunteers.
We are always happy to have new members, so if you would like to help BHRS improve our services, we would love to have you join us.
