Solstice in Times Square: A free yoga event in the heart of New York City. Considermaking an optionaldonation to two of our favorite NYC yoga-related charities. A donation equal to the amount you would normally pay for a yoga class would be wonderful, since the Solstice yoga classes are all free. All proceeds will be split evenly between the following two charities.
Bent On Learning
Since 2001, Bent on Learning has been teaching yoga to children in New York City public schools -- during the school day -- and giving kids the tools they need to be healthier, happier and better prepared for academic and personal success. They serve 3,500 students every week, (20,000 kids to date!), and strive to reach as many students as possible. Please support them in educating our children in body, mind and heart. For more information, please click Bent on Learning.
Exhale to Inhale
Since 2013, Exhale to Inhale has been bringing the healing and grounding tools of yoga to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Exhale to Inhale’s trauma-trained yoga teachers visit over a dozen domestic violence shelters and community centers each week. They bring free yoga to women who might not otherwise have access. This young organization is growing rapidly and can use your support to reach their goal of bringing yoga to 1,000 survivors this year. For more information, please click Exhale to Inhale.

11:30am - 12:30pm Class, #AerieREAL Empowered Flow Instructed by Catherine Gignac (presented by Aerie)
Catherine is so excited to rep Aerie at Solstice for the third year. She always keeps it #AerieREAL—bringing honesty, confidence and love to everything she does—both in her yoga teaching and as the Senior Manager of Digital Creative for Aerie and AE. For Catherine, yoga can be heart pumping, soul healing, deeply soothing and intensely challenging at all once. Through upbeat flows with less emphasis on perfecting movements and much more on allowing the practice to flood our bodies and take on its own shape, Catherine’s classes feel methodical and rhythmic, putting us in a vulnerable and honest space so we can find those qualities both with others and with ourselves. You can find Catherine teaching every week at Urban Elements in Pittsburgh, and twice a year in Tulum, Mexico for The Retreat: a week-long opportunity to unplug, move your body, rest your mind and reconnect through yoga, meditation, relaxation and shared experiences. Get more info on her next Retreat this October here & follow Catherine on Instagram at @heyitsme_cg.
1:30pm - 2:30pm Class, Instructed by Donna Rubin, Jen Lobo, and Friends (bodē nyc)
Donna Rubin and Jen Lobo Plamondon led the hot yoga revolution in NYC with their first studio opening in Times Square in 1999. Now, 20 years later they have four studios and a new brand with a lot of history!
Donna Rubin is the co-founder and instructor at bodē nyc. She has been teaching the Bikram Method style of yoga since 1998 and is certified in Bikram Yoga, Ishta Yoga and Barkan Yoga. As a former professional dancer, Donna performed with the National Ballet of Canada, in the role of Meg Giry in the original Canadian company of Phantom of the Opera and later made her Broadway debut in Carousel at Lincoln Center.
Jen Lobo Plamondon is a native New Yorker and the co-founder of bodē nyc. Jen has been teaching yoga since 2001 and running the studios with Donna since its inception. Prior to that, Jen served as the Communications Director for IMG, the largest sports marketing company in the world. With a background in marathon running, soccer, tennis, skiing and golf, Jennifer discovered yoga – particularly the Bikrram method – as a great cross-training tool, which after a few short months became her favorite form of exercise. With her marathon days behind her now, Jennifer finds that tradional hot yoga really fills her need for a hard workout and a great feeling afterwards.
