DIY Weben Workshop (After-Work)

NEU: DIY Workshop Weben  Alles erfährt irgendwann seine DIY-Renaissance - so auch das klassische Weben, das dieses Jahr in Form von moderrnen "Wall Hangings" (= Wand-Teppiche) überall in den sozialen Medien zu sehen ist. Zurecht, denn Weben geht schnell, einfach und macht verdammt viel Spaß, wenn man mal seinen eigenen Rhythmus gefunden hat! Darum biete ich diesen After-Work Weben Workshop an, bei dem du deine Hände Bahn für Bahn entspannen und am Ende ein kleines Kunstwerk mit nach Hause nehmen kannst! Der DIY Weben Workshop folgt keinem klassischen Workshop-Schema sondern es stehen dabei das gemeinsame Machen, der Austausch untereinander und die Inspiration von Anderen im Vordergrund. Zu Beginn werden die technischen Grundlagen sowie Tipps & Tricks zum Weben von kleinen Web-Teppichen vermittelt. Du lernst von mir Techniken wie Twists, Zöpfe und Fransen, wie du Muster und Farben am besten kombinierst und worauf du dabei achten solltest. Danach heißt es: ran an die Wollen und Webrahmen!  Der Kurs ist sowohl für Anfänger als auch für Fortgeschrittene geeignet. AGENDA Begrüßung/Intro Material-Vorstellung Web-Techniken Der eigene Web-Teppich DEIN TICKET Die Teilnahmegebühr beinhaltet 1x Mini-Webrahmen 1x Webnadel ausreichend Aida Stoff eine Auswahl an verschiedenen Wollen in unterschiedlichen Farben Vor Ort können außerdem zusätzlich Pompons und Holzperlen genutzt werden. Diverse Materialien und Werkzeuge für Lettering und Watercolor können während des gesamten Workshops in der "Show Wall" ausgiebig getestet werden (z.B. von STABILO, Faber-Castell, edding, Pentel, Ecoline, Kuretake, uniPosca, Karin Marker, Molotow u.v.m.). Der Workshop wird von unseren Partnern idee.Creativmarkt und Rico Design unterstützt. Wine Tasting: Burgundy vs. the World

Dear all, By popular demand, I'm going to do another blind tasting, New World vs. Old World, but limited to Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from Burgundy and its global competitors. The names of the wines will be revealed after people have tasted and voted and the overall winner--Burgundy or Rest of World--will be proclaimed at the end.  We will taste at least eight wines from different parts of Burgundy, which we visited this April.  The tasting costs 40 euros and is limited to the first 13 people who register via Eventbrite.  We'd be delighted if you could take part!  Brandon & Kostas  P.S. 2019 Bayesian Workshop Series

2019 Bayesian Workshop Series This series of lectures and labs is intended for biostatisticians with very little to no prior experience with Bayesian analyses. Our goal is to provide practical workshops that introduce statisticians to Bayesian principles and analytical tools which can be applied to basic statistical problems. Expert instructors for the series will include: - Veera Baladandayuthapani, Ph.D., Professor of Biostatistics -  Niko Kaciroti, Ph.D. Research Scientist, Department of Biostatistics, Research Scientist, Center for Human Growth and Development, Research Scientist, Center for Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics - Jian Kang, Ph.D., Associate Professor Biostatistics Department - Ananda Sen, Ph.D., Lee A. Green Collegiate Research Professor, Department of Biostatistics, Research Professor, Department of Family Medicine Here is some additional information: Space will be limited to 30 participants. Please see the attached syllabus for more information about the series. You will need to obtain your manager's approval prior to registration. It is expected that you will attend the lectures, labs, clinics, and give a presentation on your capstone project. This class will be a commitment on your part but with the great instructors that will teach, it should be well worth your time. It's a FREE class but a short code is required to register for the event. The short code cannot be on a Federal grant. Students are allowed to miss only one of the lecture/lab sessions offered September through December.  The R Workshop in August is optional provided student is proficient in R programming.  The January clinics are also optional.  Students must complete and present a capstone project in February; it is recommended for students to attend both February sessions.  Upon successful completion of the above requirements, the $500 course fee will be waived.  Registration closes on August 16.

The idea for Holiday Gift Collective was born from the shared values of each of the participating artisans as well as from the #shoplocal movement which encourages people to invest in their communities with the goal of strengthening the economy.
