** Vegetarian Lunch will be provided Carpark: HDB Public Carparks opposite the School (Blocks 342 to 352) Public Buses: Bus No. 63, 63M and 137 MRT Stations: UBI Station (Direct) or MacPherson & Eunos Stations and then take a public bus, e.g. SBS Bus No. 63 (Indirect) Synopsis: Advance Care Planning (ACP) is the process of planning for a person's future health and personal care in the event of critical illnesses, when one may not be able to express his preferences and goals. When a person's antecedent wishes are not known, his family members frequently experience immense emotional burden when asked to participate in decision-making relating to the aggressiveness of resuscitation and the utility of life-sustaining measures. Life is uncertain, death is certain. Not only did the Buddha encourage us to speak about death, he encouraged us to reflect on it regularly. That which is born will die. Despite the certainty of death, many Singaporeans continue to avoid conversing on this topic due to a culture of taboo entrenched in our society. A clear and relevant ACP will help your family and your doctors decide on the most appropriate treatment that best befit your wishes and interests. This seminar hopes to equip you with the knowledge that will empower you to make a good ACP: 1. The strengths and limitations of modern life-sustaining treatment - by Adj Asst Prof Poi Choo Hwee 2. The utility of Advance Care Plans (ACP), Advanced Medical Directives (AMD) and the Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) - Dr. Lee Chung Seng 3. The option of Palliative Care at the end-of-life - Adj Asst Prof Neo Han Yee 4. The importance of cultivating spirituality in life and at death's door - Venerable Janakābhivaṃsa
